Sights & Sounds
Miami city is an artist’s paradise and no matter what kind of art you follow, you will find a fantastic outlet for your passion in this city. Known for its art exhibitions and competitions, thousands of artists (performing & otherwise) throng to the city every year and reside in its beautiful homes.
Food and drink options are abundant, with a massive tourist population boosting local restaurant demands all round the year. There is a distinct, but massive, Caribbean & Latin American influence on the cuisine with dishes like Croquetas and Medianoche becoming an integral part of the local taste.
Miami city also has a special treat for sports fans, with basketball, baseball, football and ice hockey teams as well as an annual professional tennis tournament and hordes of dog-racing events.
Despite the city’s distance cultural capitals like New York and Los Angeles, Miami city has created its own brand of entertainment and adventure. The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is the second largest centre in the United States. The city is home to a huge number of musicians, singers and dancers and even has its own theatre community.
Miami city also offers a wide selection of museums that showcase art, historical & cultural artifacts as well as science. The city is also host to a number of major events like the Miami Fashion Week and the “Olympics of Art” at the Art Basel Miami Beach.
The ocean-front location means Miami’s weather is bright & sunny for most of the year. Summers are hot & humid while winters are short but dry. In summers, temperatures tend to rise but wet summer months ensure that they don’t rise beyond 350C.
From May to around mid-October, this season persists afternoon thunderstorms are quite common at this time. Evenings become relatively cooler with these rainstorms, or the sea breeze, bringing temperature down.
Winters, in Miami city, are the best time to visit the city – if the beach & dipping in water aren’t your primary objectives. With a high that nears 190C, day temperatures are pleasant and days are dry. At night, things can get nippy with temperatures falling to 100C or below.
The only time you can try and stay away from Miami is between June and November, also known as “Hurricane Season”. While you don’t really need to avoid the city at all times, an eye on the news is the best way to stay in the loop.
