Lake Bled

Last year my husband and I visited the glacial lake Bled in Slovenia, the lake is on North Western part of the country.  It was genuinely the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. The fairy tale church, the still lake, with gentle breeze and the perfect crystal clear waters! Everything about this place is so inviting.  Considering we went in August, it wasn’t as busy as a western touristy town would be.

We went for a quick run around the lake and that probably was the most beautiful route we’ve ever run!   The lake has these beautiful boats which can take upto 14 people, and really tough men row these.  It is a really peaceful journey to go from the edge of this lake to the fairy church in the middle of the lake which is on an island.  You get around an hour to explore this little island and then the boat takes you back.  The lake is inviting you for a swim all the way! I tried to resist myself from jumping in – several times.

There are a few good restaurants in town but like any tourist place, you have to avoid the touristy places.

Once a year they have rowing championships, when the whole town is lively and bustling with people from all around the world.

I highly recommend visiting Lake Bled in Slovenia.

You can find more information about this lake & town here: http://www.bled.si/en/

If you have a few more hours on hand, we recommend you to drive down to Lake Bohinjska, which is equally beautiful but a lot larger.
