It’s said that beauty is on the eye of the beholder. We all appreciate different things, which is just as well otherwise we would all want to marry George Clooney or Eva Mendes. But where is the most beautiful place on earth, and what makes it that way? Here are a few suggestions, no doubt you’ll add more, and it’s not definitive!
The Taj Mahal, India
Not just beautiful because of its incredible craftsmanship and symmetry, but because of its meaning; the Taj Mahal is the ultimate mausoleum. It may get crowded, but anyone who has visited will confirm there is a very special atmosphere; the changing light creates some incredible effects too.
The City of Venice, Italy
Beautiful in a crumbly sort of way, this watery city has magnificent architecture, stunning frescoes, even the locals are beautiful!
The Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Viewed from above or below the water, the Great Barrier Reef and its inhabitants are incredibly beautiful. The clear blue ocean, the delicate corals, and the brightly coloured fish all contribute to make this one of the most beautiful seascapes.
The Alhambra Palace, Cordoba
The Moorish influenced palace is beautiful at every turn. The delicate, intricate decoration and the beautiful gardens are symmetrical, elegant, and sophisticated.
The Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina
The park is full of rugged, towering mountains, glacial lakes, and incredible icebergs. At the southern end of the park is the most famous of all the glaciers, the Perito Moreno Glacier, and to the north Monte Fitzroy an area of granite peaks, woodland and lakes.
Milford Sound, New Zealand
Rudyard Kipling called this place the eighth wonder of the world, and who are we to argue! New Zealand’s South Island is a popular tourist spot, and Milford Sound is home to Mitre Peak and the great Milford Road, a stunning alpine drive.
Bora Bora, Polynesia
The amazingly beautiful volcanic island of Bora Bora has to be amongst the most beautiful beaches in the world. The clear warm turquoise water, palms and white sand is heaven on earth, so maybe it doesn’t count!
Mount Everest
Whether you’re lucky enough to have reached the summit and are looking down on the world, or you’re in the foothills looking up, the panorama and majesty of Everest is awe-inspiring. Its not just Everest, some of the surrounding mountains such as Ama Dablam are also incredible
My final suggestion and a good one liner if you’ve really put your foot in it is….“The most beautiful place in the world is wherever you are…xxxxx”
